What's In A Name? Why Chelsea Won't Let Go!
Jose Mourinho: Registered as a trademark by Chelsea in 2005 |
Chelsea still own the rights to Mourinho's name and signature, having registered it as a trademark with the Intellectual Property Office in 2005, during his first spell at Stamford Bridge.
As well as being registered in the UK, "Jose Mourinho" is registered as a trademark of Chelsea FC on the European Union's Intellectual Property Database.
It means Chelsea can use his name on a huge variety of products, from eau de cologne to cotton wool, magnets, leather goods and pyjamas.
In practice Chelsea, who declined to comment, have used it on club merchandise including mugs, posters, smartphone cases and miniature figurines.
DStv Slashes Decoder Prices Over ‘Fuel Price Hike’!
DStv, MultiChoice’s digital satellite TV in Africa, has announced that decoders will now sell for lower rates.
Martin Mabutho, General Manager, Marketing and Sales, MultiChoice Nigeria, made this announcement at a press conference that held in Lagos on Tuesday.
“In this era when '145' is all you are hearing and less traffic is what you are seeing. I think it’s only appropriate that a company that is entrenched in Nigeria like DSTV be seen to continue in that tradition during this hard time,” he said.
DSTV Standard Definition (SD) with dish used to cost 20,000 but we cut it back to 12,500 naira in February. Now, because of this '145' and pleas from customers who would like to move to the high definition, we decided that with effect from Friday, a full set of HD zapper decoder with a dish and one-month compact subscription will go for 9,900 naira.

STEPHEN KESHI Resigns as Coach!!!!
After what seemed like a fallout with the 'powers that be' in the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Nigeria's Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi resigned his position less than 24 hours after coaching the Super Eagles to their 3rd Nation's Cup Victory in South Africa
Keshi claims that he was sacked prior to their quarter-final clash against Ivory Coast, because apparently the Nigerian Football Federation booked a plane back to Nigeria as soon as they found out that they will play Ivory Coast.
Keshi's resignation letter would still be discussed by the NFF but the ex-international has said that he is unlikely to change his mind.
Lagos Cable-Car
Captain Dapo Olumide |
Speaking at a news and current affairs programme, he said the cable car would run around on 3 routes around the Adeniyi Adele axis of Lagos Island.
He identified the routes to be covered in the first phase of the project as Ijora – Iddo, Iddo – Adeniji, Apapa – Oluwole, Oluwole – Adeniji, Adeniji – Obalende, Obalende – Falomo, and Falomo – Victoria Island
Very good dream for Lagos but one question need be asked..."what would power the cable cars, this same PHCN?"
Imagine power outage in one of this...in the middle of nowhere |
Feb. 28...and the Pope Resigns
Pope Benedict shocked the world on Monday by saying he no longer had the mental and physical strength to cope with his ministry, in an announcement that left his aides "incredulous" and will make him the first pontiff to step down since the Middle Ages.
The German-born Pope, 85, hailed as a hero by conservative Roman Catholics and viewed with suspicion by liberals, told cardinals in Latin that his strength had deteriorated recently. He will step down on February 28 and the Vatican expects a new Pope to be chosen by the end of March.
Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said the Pope had not decided to resign because of "difficulties in the papacy" and the move had been a surprise, indicating that even his inner circle was unaware that he was about to quit. - (Source: The Vatican)
